Director of Events and Programs
Position Overview
The Director of Events & Programs is an integral member of the Chamber team and leads a diverse portfolio of committees, programs and events that cultivate relationships, strengthen member engagement and enhance the Chamber’s visibility and impact within the Richardson community.
Major Responsibilities
Program & Event Management
- Lead the development, execution and management of signature Chamber events and programs, including the Annual Meeting, EDGE Awards and Golf Classic.
- Manage and coordinate several Chamber committees including Women in Leadership, Workforce Development and Small Business.
- Manage event logistics, registration, budget, venue and vendor coordination, speaker management, sponsorship fulfillment, volunteer coordination and on-site execution for committee related events.
Committee, Partnership & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with business leaders, educational institutions, government entities, nonprofit organizations and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with community partners to develop programs and initiatives that support local businesses and workforce.
- Represent the Chamber at meetings, events and community functions.
- Provide leadership and guidance to volunteers, sponsors and stakeholders.
Sponsorship, Marketing & Communications
- Identify, solicit, secure and steward sponsorships from members and prospective partners.
- Develop sponsorship opportunities that provide value to sponsors while supporting Chamber revenue goals.
- Coordinate marketing and promotional efforts through email, social media, website content, print materials and member communications.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Develop, manage and reconcile program and event budgets.
- Monitor revenues and expenses to maximize profitability and fiscal responsibility.
- Maintain accurate attendance, sponsorship and engagement records.
- Prepare reports and recommendations to evaluate program effectiveness and organizational impact.
Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, Hospitality, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
Experience
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in program management, event planning, community engagement, marketing, nonprofit management or business relations.
- Experience managing budgets, sponsorships, committees and stakeholder relationships.
- Volunteer management expertise.
- Strong organizational, project management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships and effectively lead diverse stakeholders.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Microsoft Office Suite
- ChamberMaster or similar CRM/database platform
- Email marketing and website content management systems
- Canva or comparable design software
Work Environment
Regular Chamber business hours are Monday through Friday. This is an in-office position and requires flexibility to attend committee meetings, networking functions, community events and Chamber programs on occasional evenings and/or weekends.
