The 4th quarter of the year is the best time to begin preparation for the year’s tax returns. You can take the time while there isn’t any pressure to review your finances, make last minute contributions to charity to get credit on this year’s return, and get a sense of what you will owe come April 15. This presentation will not only help you prepare for next year it will outline the changes and potential pitfalls in the tax code that will help you submit an accurate return.
About the speakers:
John Mottram has extensive experience as a successful chief financial officer working with CEOs, presidents, CFOs and controllers in start-up, small- and medium-sized businesses that are managing change and need to meet critical deadlines to achieve corporate finance, bookkeeping, taxation, financial systems and business objectives. John has an MBA in finance and BA in finance & accounting from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Texas and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Texas Society of Public Accountants.
Richard Fleming is the CEO & founder of State Tax Group, LLC a state and local tax advisory firm located in Farmers Branch since 2005. He has 24 years experience in the state and local tax arena. Richard is an appointed member of the Texas State Comptroller’s Glen Hagar’s “Taxpayer Advisory Group” which meets to discuss proposed rules and tax laws before they are published in the Texas Register. He serves on numerous boards of business groups and charitable organizations in the Dallas area. He earned both an undergraduate degree and an MBA from Cameron University School of Business Lawton, Oklahoma.
