The Power of a Story: How to Communicate with Impact
In a noisy world, facts alone rarely inspire action – but stories do. Aardvark Communications President, Carolyn Alvey, explores how to use storytelling as a powerful business tool to connect with audiences, build trust, and drive results. Through practical examples and actionable tips, you’ll learn how to shape your own narrative, engage your audience and create a memorable message..
About the speaker:
Over the past three decades, Carolyn Alvey has been at the helm of Aardvark Communications building an extraordinary team and reputation in the industry while guiding clients through some of the most challenging events in our country’s history including 9/11, the financial crisis of 2008 and, most recently, a world-wide pandemic.
In 2022, Carolyn oversaw the successful merger with a privately held company bringing additional marketing capabilities to Aardvark Communications. With a growing team of experienced professionals, maintaining the culture of the agency continues to be a priority while providing clients with exceptional service.
For more than 20 years, Aardvark Communications worked alongside the CEO of a privately held luxury dealership group in Texas establishing a consistent public relations and community relations program. In 2020, the owner sold the company valued at nearly $1 billion to a Fortune 500 firm. Upon completing the transaction, Aardvark was retained to continue its work with the dealership group on media and community outreach as well as preserving the internal culture of the brand.
In 1996, while overseeing the public relations program for the Association of Radio Managers of Dallas/Fort Worth, Carolyn led a five-member team to develop the Amber Alert, a nationally recognized alert system leading to the return of abducted or missing children. The impact of this program has led to the recovery of more than 1,100 children and the establishment of a nationwide program.
Carolyn began her career with Ogilvy & Mather Public Relations upon graduating from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in marketing. Carolyn worked with Communiqué Public Relations and Keller Crescent Public Relations before starting the public relations division for Aardvark Communications, which she co-owns with her husband.
Believing in the power of giving back, Carolyn served more than 10 years in different capacities on the Board of Directors for a childhood cancer foundation. In addition, she has volunteered with numerous organizations to provide her expertise to the nonprofit world. Today, she is a member of the Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer Guild.
Carolyn resides in Texas with her husband and has three grown sons.
