Why High Performance Is Draining Capacity—and How to Fix It
In today’s fast-paced work environment, many professionals continue to meet expectations and deliver results—but at a cost. Jennifer Bassman, speaker and author, will introduce the concept of functional burnout, often driven by chronic stress, mental overload, and the constant demands of modern work. Through a practical, whole-body approach, she will share why traditional self-care strategies often fall short and what actually works to restore energy and sustain performance.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what’s happening in their brain and body, along with simple, realistic strategies they can apply immediately to think more clearly, feel more energized, and perform at a high level—without constantly feeling depleted.

About the speaker:
Jennifer Bassman is a keynote speaker, author, and recovering perfectionist who helps high-achieving Gen X women stop spiraling into burnout and start living like their sanity actually matters. Spending 16 years (and counting) researching stress and burnout, she delivers science-backed strategies with wit, warmth, and zero tolerance for fluff.
Jennifer tackles the real stressors women face: the mental load, hormonal chaos, and that fun little societal lie that we should do everything for everyone — with a smile. Her Triumphs Toolkit is helping high women break free from stress and unrealistic expectations with practical tools as well as her three bestselling books.
A certified CliftonStrengths coach, Jennifer has guided hundreds of women (and a few brave men) through burnout recovery since 2012 with one-on-one coaching. She's also a long-time entrepreneur who knows firsthand what it’s like to be the boss, the therapist, the scheduler, and the snack supplier all at once.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa — where her people-pleasing tendencies first blossomed — she now lives in Dallas with her husband and four rescue dogs who firmly believe they are the center of the universe. When she’s not coaching or speaking, she’s probably drinking a Diet Dr Pepper, dodging emails, or yelling at referees during Iowa Hawkeye games.
Jennifer’s mission? To make burnout recovery honest, humorous, and completely doable — even if you’re running on fumes and passive-aggressive post-its.
