Jim Chester Jim Chester, Partner, is a technology and business attorney who represents innovation-based entrepreneurs, start-ups and privately-held companies of all sizes in a variety of industries regarding trademark, copyright, and trade secret protection, licensing & enforcement in the U.S. and abroad. Jim's unique background and practice experience make him an idea legal counsel for software, app and video game developers, publishers and distributors, as well as companies operating in the ecommerce, digital media and digital marketing industries. In addition, he assists companies in international business transactions and joint ventures. Jim coordinates with foreign counsel on legal projects on legal projects on behalf of U.S. clients, and serves as legal advisor to foreign companies doing business with or in the U.S. Jim also has significant experience and expertise handling domestic business matters, IP licensing and transfer, including entity formation, ecommerce, technology transactions, commercial real estate, asset and equity sales, and other legal issues commonly faced by his clients. Jim graduated from Texas A&M University (Commerce) with High Honors (double-major in Economics & Political Science), received his law degree from South Texas College of Law, and his LL.M from the University of Houston Law Center. Jim has been named to the "Best Lawyers in Dallas" list by D Magazine (2014); listed as a "Rising Star" (2008-09, 2011) and "Super Lawyer" (2013-17) by Texas Super Lawyer Magazine a Thomson Reuters service.
Elsa Manzanares advises clients on global and U.S. regulations relating to the import and export of goods, technology, software, and services. She represents companies on matters pertaining to the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). She also represents clients on U.S. sanctions and embargoes before the U.S. Treasury Department?s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the import regulations administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), national security reviews conducted by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and anti-corruption compliance. She was appointed by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to serve on the roster of panelists eligible to review antidumping duty disputes involving the U.S., Canada, and Mexico under Chapter 19 of NAFTA. Elsa formerly served as in-house counsel for Latin America and Canada for Mary Kay Inc. She graduated from Yale University, the Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Texas School of Law.
Barbara Adamson has 32 years of customs brokerage experience. In addition to providing compliance support to U.S. brokerage operations and sales staff and to select high volume importers, Ms. Adamson develops compliance policy for UPS, US brokerage operations, provides compliance representation on various internal cross-functional project teams, and participates on various national trade and government agency committees.
