Marketing strategy and tactics for small business
Marta Gómez Frey was appointed by the Richardson City Council in June 2015 to fill the City's Place 5 seat, filling the vacancy created when Paul Voelker was selected as mayor. For more than 20 years, Frey has helped start and grow businesses in Richardson and the surrounding areas. From her beginnings in family business to her current work with entrepreneurs through the Collin Small Business Development Center (SBDC), she has counseled local companies in the areas of marketing, management, financing, growth strategies, fundraising, and proposal writing. Currently, Frey is the Director of the Collin SBDC, where she has helped increase economic impact within the business community through her expertise in controlling tight budgets, developing resources, collaborating with both public and private assets and implementing strategic plans. Frey has served as a member of the Richardson City's Plan Commission and the City Charter Review Commission. She has also served on the board of directors for the Leadership Richardson Alumni Association and NETWORK of Community Ministries, and as a member of the Junior League of Richardson. She is a graduate of Leadership Richardson Class of XXVI. She was also named a finalist for Outstanding Women of Today in the Education category by Altrusa International of Richardson. Frey is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
Steve Shalosky has held a variety of corporate positions in specialties ranging from finance and accounting to sales and marketing. Most of the last 12 years in his corporate career was spent in various marketing positions specializing in developing strategic business plans, creating marketing tactics and launching new products. Leveraging years of marketing and business management experience, Steve decided to surrender to his entrepreneurial spirit and started his own consumer durables business in 2008. His company launched a number of new, proprietary products into the U.S. consumer marketplace, focusing on e-commerce through his own website and online retailers like Amazon. He is excited to leverage his educational background, practical experience from both his small business and years of corporate roles to assist new entrepreneurs and existing business owners in growing their businesses. Steve is also a US Army veteran, serving as a commissioned officer in a variety of leadership and logistical operations positions throughout his 12-year career. Steve holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Dayton (Ohio) and a Master of Business Administration from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
