The Exclusive Story Behind the President George W. Bush Library
Featuring Alan Lowe, Director, George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum
When President George W. Bush made the decision to locate his presidential library in Dallas, the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) went to work. NARA, which has the responsibility for administrating all presidential libraries, began the task of collecting, examining and selecting the archives to be displayed in the museum. The effort was led by Alan Lowe, who became the Director of the library when it opened in May. Alan and his team from NARA had the monumental task of reviewing 70 million pages of documents, over 200 million email messages and 4 million photographs from the Bush Administration that went on display when the library opened in May. Hear the fascinating behind-the-scenes story of how the Bush Presidential Library and Museum came to life in North Texas.
