Mayor’s Intern Program ends inaugural year

The Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program wrapped up its inaugural year with a celebratory luncheon for the 2018 interns and their supervisors at RISD’s Professional Development Center. Guest speakers included Mayor Paul Voelker and RISD Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone.

Twenty-five students participated in the program, which began in the spring with job skills workshops and interviews and culminated in eight weeks of paid employment. More than 20 companies, individuals and departments served as intern sponsors, program sponsors or host locations. Participating businesses included BB&T Bank, Corgan, UT Dallas, Alliance Architects, Inc., Atmos Energy, the Dallas Chinese Community Center, BRY-JO Roofing and Remodeling, City of Richardson, RISD, Speedpro Imaging, PAJ, Inc., the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, Durkin Properties LLC, Johnny Lee CPA and Network of Community Ministries.
