Richardson Chamber welcomes Majority Whip John Cornyn to Annual Meeting

The Richardson Chamber of Commerce is celebrating 70 years at this year’s Annual Meeting on March 31. U.S. Senator John Cornyn will be speaking to an expected audience of around 600. The event will be hosted at the Renaissance Hotel at highway 75 and Lookout Drive in Richardson. Networking will begin at 11 am, with the program beginning at noon.

As part of the event, Dr. David Daniel, former president of the University of Texas at Dallas and current vice chancellor of the UT system, will present this year’s Citizen of the Year award, fulfilling his role as the 2014 Citizen of the Year. The Chamber will also recognize its volunteers of the year, including committee, ambassador, rookie, small business and international volunteer. Tickets are available online at Member tickets are $65, non-members are $80 and a table of ten will be $750.

John Cornyn, the Senate’s number 2 Republican, was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002. Cornyn previously served as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2007 to 2011. He was Texas Attorney General from 1999 to 2002. Cornyn served for six years as a district court judge in San Antonio before being elected to the Texas Supreme Court in 1990, where he served for seven years. A graduate of Trinity University and St. Mary’s School of Law, both in San Antonio, Cornyn also earned a Masters of Law from the University of Virginia Law School in 1995. He was named the St. Mary’s Distinguished Law School Graduate in 1994 and a Trinity University Distinguished Alumnus in 2001.
