iDream to partner 7th-graders with local businesses

Encouraging and developing the workforce of the future means starting early.
iDream 2018 focuses on 7th graders and will introduce the middle-school students to Richardson employers to learn more about various careers. The work experience is an initiative between the Education and Workforce Committee and the Richardson Independent School District.
About 20 participating businesses are needed to lead small breakout groups and mentor the students in a half-day session Jan. 18 at the the Arzell Ball Center, 410 S. Greenville (next to the administration building).
Proposed topic clusters include:
  • Business/ marketing/ finance
  • Education
  • Health science
  • STEM
  • Multi-disciplinary/ arts/ humanities
  • Public services
State Farm, UTD and Richland College have committed funding, but other sponsorship opportunities are required for lunch and give-aways.
