Richardson Chamber Member Roger Wakefield, owner of Texas Green Plumbing, won the American Standard Plumber Know How contest and will be their designated Plumber Expert, American Standard. Wakefield will be representing the Richardson community through social media posts in which he offers advice to the plumbing community nationwide.

“It is such an honor,” said Wakefield. “To be named the first ever ‘Next Expert Plumber’ by American Standard… should be great for Texas Green Plumbing.”

Wakefield was chosen after American Standard received a number of submissions during three months.

In a press release, Maha El Kharbotly, chief marketing officer of LIXIL Americas, the corporation that owns American Standard, said, “Roger’s in-depth knowledge of the plumbing field, his incomparable enthusiasm for this noble profession, combined with his engaging and approachable personality, make him the ideal choice as our Plumber Expert.”

Texas Green Plumbing has been a member of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce since April, and he credits the community with helping him become successful.

“Being involved with such an amazing Chamber of Commerce as the one here in Richardson is so beneficial,” said Wakefield. “I am really impressed by how much they care and how much they want to help the businesses here.”

Founded in 2013 by Wakefield, Texas Green Plumbing employs four plumbers and one apprentice. The company offers a variety of services, including residential and commercial water audits, re-piping drain lines, and a number of traditional in home plumbing services.

“I wanted to open a plumbing company that was all about a ‘Complete Customer Satisfaction Fulfillment System’ and a warranty that people can believe in,” said Wakefield. “That’s why we warranty our workmanship forever.”

As Plumber Expert, Wakefield will be creating plumbing tips and tricks and hosting webisodes and live videos through American Standard’s social media channels about his field.

Wakefield has received a number of notable accreditations, such as LEED AP certification of advanced knowledge of green building practices, a Green Plumbers USA license for sustainability and public health training and multiple other certifications from state and national plumbing agencies.

“I believe in doing things right and building relationships,” said Wakefield.

With the $5,000 cash prize and $5,000 stipend for American Standard products Texas Green Plumbing has received for his recognition, Wakefield hopes to continue to bring green plumbing to the North Texas community.

“Every person... reinforce[s] the fact that we made the right decision relocating our business here,” said Wakefield. “I wish that we had done it much sooner. Not all cities support business the way that Richardson does.”
