For the second year, a delegation from the Richardson Chamber of Commerce attended the Federal Policy Conference and Tour in our nation’s capital.

The group had dinner with Rep. Pete Sessions, followed by a unique, three-hour tour of the Capitol. He showed unusual features and history of the Capitol. The group also went onto the floor in the House of Representatives, where the State of the Union is given, and behind the scenes to Sessions’ office.

At the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the group heard briefings about education and workforce training, health care, immigration, transportation and infrastructure.

Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. John Cornyn met with the group to discuss multiple policy issues. The group also met with the chairs of five committees, offering frank and thorough discussion of key policy issues. During the Cornyn meeting, the Richardson Chamber delegates joined with the Greater Dallas and Ft. Worth chambers and heard about NAFTA modernization, infrastructure and tax reform.
The group also enjoyed a night tour of DC monuments.

Special thanks to Randy Ford from National Write Your Congressman for helping to organize the trip.
Here are some comments from enthusiastic participants:
