Ambassador of the Month - Bill Schaid

Bill Schaid has definite priorities in life. He believes it is important to get involved in church, family, business and the community. It’s his dedication to the community that makes him the Chamber’s Ambassador of the Month. Bill is a mortgage banker by trade, but he represents the Kiwanis Club of Richardson with his Chamber membership.

“I chose to be an ambassador to get additional exposure for the Kiwanis Club within the Chamber and Richardson,” said Bill. “I was also looking for a different way to work within the Chamber – to do something different. The Ambassador Club is an active group.”

Kiwanis also is an active group, which makes sense with members like Bill. He has held most offices available within the club. Currently, he manages the club’s Dallas Ramp Project, which builds wheel chair ramps for people who cannot afford to pay for one. The group has built more than 200 ramps at no cost to the recipients. The Kiwanis Club also strives to build strong young citizens through its sponsored youth programs at both the elementary, secondary and college level. Kiwanis sponsors an Angel League for special needs children to provide baseball, bowling and other activities and supports other children’s activities including the Children’s Hospital and Shoes for Orphan Soles, among others.

Bill believes the Chamber and Kiwanis have something important in common. They both support the community. The difference is the Chamber does it by focusing on business.

“The Chamber can help many types of businesses grow if they get involved by getting their name out there and building trusting relationships that result in referrals. The Chamber also contributes to a stronger more vigorous community through its activities in business development, education, transportation and support of projects that build up Richardson,” said Bill. “We all benefit from a strong, vital well managed city.”
