DESCRIPTION:Founded in 1953\, Ability Connection is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves more than 900 Texans with all types of intellectual or other developmental disabilities. Our members are individuals with skills\, passions\, interests\, humor\, creativity\, dignity\, and determination. Our experienced\, dedicated employees and volunteers work hard to empower them to live their best lives possible by removing barriers that inhibit independence and autonomy. Ability Connection's programs range from living assistance and support\, to residential services and life-changing training. Within those programs\, we help individuals optimize their health and fitness\; social\, academic and life skills\; use of helpful technologies\; self-expression through hands-on recreational activities\, and much more. In everything we do\, we strive to help every individual we serve achieve their best possible life.\n\n\n\nLisa has been with Ability Connection as Development Manager since last year. Prior to Ability Connection\, she was Executive Director for a non-profit in Ellis County and is a retired academic from SMU\, where she had oversight of the film library and lectured on intellectual property and copyright law.
